Archdiocese of St. Louis Highlights "Meeting Our Neighbors"

The Archdiocese of St. Louis, Office of Ecumenical & Interreligious Affairs has coordinated the Meeting Our Neighbors program now for three years. This program brings Catholics and others into the worship or gathering space of other traditions to learn from that tradition’s clergy and adherents. Each visit has two parts: an educational element—usually a brief presentation with questions; and an experiential element—usually an opportunity to witness a program, prayer or ritual in that tradition.

Over the last three years, this program has brought more than 600 people on 14 different visits. The communities visited include Lutheran, Baptist and Catholic Christianity as well as Atheist, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim and Jewish Communities.

In addition to this in-person program, the Office of Ecumenical & Interreligious Affairs has translated these experiences into a digital & social media space. Each presenter for the Meeting Our Neighbors program is invited to give their presentation on video. These presentations are then edited into 1 min segments and released on social media. The full collection of over 50 videos can be accessed on the Archdiocese of St. Louis website here.
