Bishop David Zubik of Green Bay Named Bishop of Pittsburgh
WASHINGTON (July 18, 2007) — Pope Benedict XVI named Bishop David A. Zubik of Green Bay, Wisconsin, to be Bishop of Pittsburgh. Bishop Zubik is 57.
The announcement was made in Washington, July 18, by Msgr. Martin Krebs, Chargé d'Affaires of the Vatican nunciature.
David A. Zubik was born September 4, 1949, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor of arts degree from St. Paul Seminary, Pittsburgh, in 1971, and a master of divinity degree from St. Mary's Seminary, Baltimore in 1975. He also earned a master of education degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1982.
He was ordained a priest May 3, 1975. He was appointed titular bishop of Jamestown and auxiliary bishop of Pittsburgh on February 18, 1997, and ordained to the episcopacy April 6, 1997. He was named Bishop of Green Bay, October 10, 2003.
