Bishops Vote for New Treasurer, USCCB Committee Chairmen and CRS Board Members at General Meeting

BALTIMORE—The U.S. Conference ofCatholic Bishops chose a new treasurer-elect, along with the chairmen-elect offive committees and new members of the board of Catholic Relief Services (CRS)as the bishops met for their November 12-15 Fall General Assembly.

BALTIMORE—The U.S. Conference ofCatholic Bishops chose a new treasurer-elect, along with the chairmen-elect offive committees and new members of the board of Catholic Relief Services (CRS)as the bishops met for their November 12-15 Fall General Assembly.

Thebishops elected:

  • BishopKevin J. Farrell of Dallas treasurer-elect/chairman-elect of the Committee onBudget and Finance in a 123-113 vote over Bishop Robert J. Cunningham ofSyracuse, New York.

  • BishopMichael F. Burbidge of Raleigh, North Carolina, chairman-elect of the Committeeon Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations in a 167-72 vote over Bishop David A.Zubik of Pittsburgh.

  • CardinalDaniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston chairman-elect of the Committee onDivine Worship in a 122-115 vote over Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron of Detroit.

  • ArchbishopThomas G. Wenski of Miami chairman-elect of the Committee on Domestic Justiceand Human Development in a 144-95 vote over Bishop Robert W. McElroy, auxiliarybishop of San Francisco.

  • BishopRichard J. Malone of Buffalo, New York, chairman-elect of the Committee onLaity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth in a 148-90 over Bishop Paul Bradley ofKalamazoo, Michigan.

  • BishopEusebio L. Elizondo, M.Sp.S., auxiliary bishop of Seattle, chairman-elect of theCommittee on Migration in a 122-117 vote over Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio ofBrooklyn.

Thetreasurer-elect and chairmen-elect will assume leadership of their respectivecommittees in November 2013.

Bishopselected to the CRS board were Bishop Joseph R. Cistone of Saginaw, Michigan; BishopRichard J. Malone of Buffalo, New York; Bishop Gregory J. Mansour of theEparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn for Maronites; and Bishop Arthur Serratelli ofPaterson, New Jersey.
