The Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage assists the bishops and State Catholic Conferences in promoting and defending the authentic teaching of the Church regarding the nature of marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman directed to the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children. The mandate of the subcommittee includes catechesis, education, and public policy advocacy.
