Dear Mr. Ambassador:
The purpose of this letter is to seek information concerning 'the present status of the investigation into the events of December 14, 1983, at Lurigancho Prison, Lima, which resulted in the death of Sister Joan Sawyer, SCC.
On behalf of the United States Catholic Conference, I also wish to express the hope that a thorough and impartial and timely investigation is being conducted and that those responsible for the death of Sister Joan Sawyer will be brought to trial.
I respectfully request that you bring this inquiry to the attention of your Government.
