Proceedings and Conclusions of the V National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry | 171 A t the start of the preparations for the V Encuentro , the members of ENAHVE ( Equipo Nacional de Acompañamiento Hacia el V Encuentro ) were united in the understanding that it would be critically important to involve Hispanic/Latino youth and young adults in the process, and through them to reach out to Hispanic/Latino young people in the peripheries. The hope was that every segment of young Latinos would be reached and represented in the consultation: English-dominant and Spanish-dominant; immigrants, the 1.5 generation (young immigrants brought by their families who attended school in the U.S.), U.S.-born children of immigrants, and the 3 rd + generation; engaged Catholics, disengaged Catholics, and the disaf- filiated. This appendix describes the efforts that were made to ensure adequate representation of young Latinos/Hispanics in the consultation, as well as the results of those efforts. Hispanic/Latino Youth and Young Adults in the Five Reflection and Mission Sessions In accordance with the goal to engage young people in the process, many dioceses adapted the five reflection and mission sessions to respond better to the needs of the young people in their area. Others encouraged them to participate along with the adults or formed small groups of their peers at the same time and place as other small groups in the parish, school, or move- ment. Parish teams were asked to document these efforts and report them to the Diocesan Teams, who in turn provided summary data in their Diocesan Working Document. According to these records, about 55% of the parishes and groups provided a count or estimate of the overall participants, and about 96% of those also included information on the number of young people.
