V Encuentro Proceedings and Conclusions

70 | Proceedings and Conclusions of the V National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry • Will be witnesses of God’s love, sharing the Good News we have received in Jesus Christ in every corner of our communities and in every encounter we experience—at home, on the street, in the marketplace, at work, and at Church. • Will continue seeking opportunities to be formed in the faith and formed for mis- sion—studying Sacred Scripture, learning more about the sacraments and the call to holiness, finding practical ways to evan- gelize by word and deed, and learning to advocate for justice and human dignity. • Will share the gift of faith and knowledge of Church teaching, whether formally in catechesis and prayer groups, or infor- mally by joyfully explaining the reasons for our hope to all who ask. • Will rededicate ourselves to prayer and the spiritual life, regularly setting aside time to grow in our personal relationship with God, asking the Lord to give us what we need to be good stewards of the faith and of all the gifts and abundant bless- ings that we have received. • Will make a determined effort to wel- come young families and assist them in their needs, helping to build unity in the home and mutual understanding and support between parents and children. • Will renew our commitment to our own families, taking seriously our role as par- ents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, chil- dren, and brothers and sisters to share the faith starting at home and to give a con- sistent testimony of striving for holiness, prayer, justice, and participation, with due attention to understand and sup- port our children growing up in the U.S. cultural environment. • Will support and form the young del- egates and the tens of thousands of Hispanic/Latino youth and young adults reached through the V Encuentro pro- cess to be bridge builders and protag- onists in the Church’s mission to evan- gelize, accompany, and mentor this young generation. • Will listen attentively to the concerns of the young, get to know them personally, and trust them to receive and integrate the Good News, putting it into action in ways that are most appropriate and adapted to the needs of their generation. • Will never cease to advocate for a com- prehensive and just immigration reform, and to accompany those without legal status or whose status may be in jeopardy, including direct assistance to families sep- arated by deportation or detention by border control or ICE raids. • Will value and embrace the cultural and linguistic diversity in our parishes and com- munities, while holding strong to our own cultural gifts and sharing them generously with others, imitating Christ to welcome the stranger and the immigrant as our brother or sister and fostering communion to over- come prejudices, exclusions, and racism wherever they may be found. • Will not be afraid to offer ourselves, with all of the gifts that we have received from Commitments of the Delegates
