Anniversary Year of Laudato Si'

“All of us can cooperate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each according to his or her own culture, experience, involvements and talents.” - Laudato Si', 14

On May 24, 2015, Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si', On Care for Our Common Home, was published. The Holy Father's words soon reached well beyond the visible boundaries of the Catholic Church and were widely praised by people of all faith traditions. The letter became a bridge for ecumenical and interreligious dialogue.

On its fifth anniversary, following the Regina Caeli, Pope Francis announced a special Laudato Si' Anniversary Year from May 24, 2020-May 24, 2021. This year is meant to be celebrated by all. The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development has been charged with partnering with all, including those of other religious traditions, in the promotion of this Special Anniversary Year. The anniversary year will open with Laudato Si’ Week 2020, and will proceed with several initiatives, realized in partnership and with a clear emphasis on “ecological conversion” in “action”.
